Funded in 2002, Livework is the first service design firm established in the world. Since then, with more than 1000 projects and 300 clients across 21 industries, the studio has contributed to shape and develop the service design discipline and practice.

Insight used to be the skunkworks unit of Livework studio with a mission to explore the edges of service design. It was an intelligence centre putting service design under steroids, developing solutions to the increasing complex challenges our clients experience. We did so by developing and putting into practice research on human cognition and organizational design.

Design and delivery of a 33-hour Service Design elective course for 80 MSc students from different disciplines such as Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Marketing, and Finance. The course covered both the theory and practice of Service Design through the involvement of real clients offering real service challenges to tackle.

DESMA was an Initial Training Network in the area of Design Management funded by the European Commission’s Marie Curie Actions (FP7). DESMA combined 4 leading universities within the area of Design Management (University of Gothenburg, Aalto University, Imperial College, Politecnico di Milano), 4 leading European design consultancies (Veryday, Future Concept Lab, Livework and Engine) and 4 complementary product and service organizations (Volvo Group, Philips Healthcare, Poltrona Frau and Living Labs Global), in a cross-disciplinary effort to understand how design can be exploited as a driver of innovation and competitiveness in Europe.
