Natural Resources Canada's CanmetENERGY is the Canadian leader in clean energy research and technology development. With over 550 scientists, engineers and technicians and more than 100 years of experience, we are Canada’s largest energy science and technology organization working on clean energy research, development, demonstration, and deployment. Our goal is to ensure that Canada is at the leading edge of clean energy technologies to reduce air and greenhouse gas emissions and improve the health of Canadians. Our research centers in Canada are in Varennes (QC), Ottawa (ON), Hamilton (ON) and Devon (AB). CanmetENERGY in Varennes is a Science and Technology leader conducting innovative science and research activities to develop and implement solution pathways for a sustainable energy future for Canada. The total budget is about 15.5 million dollars per year with 200 employees that include scientists, engineers, technologists, managers, and support staff. CanmetENERGY in Varennes is equipped with two pilot plants composed of test benches enabling creation of prototypes for the buildings, renewables, and industry sectors.
