Planning/ managing projects investigating the resistance to Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis in tomato. Investigating multiple approaches to combating the tomato pathogen that include: • Developing a new disease screening protocol• Fine mapping the known QTL• Applying the susceptibility genes in resistance breeding• Utilising antagonistic bacteria against Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensisOther duties include: • Supporting with teaching and mentoring Master students during laboratory practicals and theses projects• Liaising with external collaborators that include a local start up and a large multi-national company• Attending conferences and presenting posters with research findings to professionals from diverse backgrounds• Preparing and delivering oral presentations to experts from the department demonstrating in-depth knowledgeMy key achievements in this role include:• Awarded best oral presenter for the EUCARPIA Tomato Working group (2018)• Applying for Huub and Julienne Spiertz Fund and being awarded a grant (€400) to go to The 5th International Symposium on Tomato Diseases in Spain (2016), where a poster was accepted and presented • Being awarded a grant from Fonds Landbouw Export Bureau (Fund Agricultural Export Bureau) (€689) to go to the 20th Eucarpia General Congress in Switzerland (2016) where PhD research findings were presented as a poster

Teaching Plant Molecular Biology laboratory practicals to Undergraduate students. Overseeing the execution of laboratory experiments and the completion of reports. Supervising Bachelor projects and theses.

Assisted with the lab management including the implementation of Health and Safety guidelines. Proofread students’ theses and the department’s manuscripts for publication.

Developed a new tissue culture protocol to propagate Jatropha curcas. Investigated disease resistance in potato.

Performed resistance breeding in legumes and crop rotations of the different legume accessions.
