Managed design and development group responsible for electricity meter development, Neighborhood Area Network (NAN) communications between 900 MHz mesh network devices (e.g. electricity, water, and gas meters) and Home Area Network (HAN) communications. Products included single and polyphase electricity meters with integrated NAN and HAN radios, network interface cards for repeaters and gateway devices (the interface points between the NAN and the utility), and battery powered communication modules that interface to gas and water meters. Responsible for NAN system architecture of Elster's EnergyAxis system and HAN interface (ZigBee and Elster 900 MHz radio) to products developed by partner companies.Directed full life cycle product design and development, from analysis of commercial requirements and generation of product specifications through support of deployed systems and products. Managed multiple project design and development efforts, including project schedules and budgets. Direct supervisor of design and development engineers (hardware, firmware, mechanical and system engineers).Active contributor to the 4g amendment to IEEE 802.15.4 standard (PHY and MAC layers for NAN communications). Active in continuing efforts to standardize higher layers of NAN protocol (MAC sub-layer through application layer).Inventor or co-inventor on over 35 patents.
