Being involved in the community broadcasting sector for over the years has been a very rewarding experience, giving people a voice through education and a microphone. SYN Media was great outlet to create and expand my horizons in both personal and professional capacities. As Youth Coordinator I have been given the opportunity to work with the next generation of radio presenters at 2RRR with Youth Jukebox, Sydney's youngest drive time program. Students ranging from 13 to 25 gain confidence and develop strong communication skills, with many ending up studying journalism and media at a tertiary level. Having accepted the role of Station Coordinator in 2016, 2RRR has seen long term goals reached, such as forming a strategic plan, increasing local membership and sponsorship, as well as ensuring our broadcast licence for another five years. Making the leap from community to public broadcasting was an interesting challenge, with the ability to expand my repertoire of skills into new areas and honing in on my strengths and interests in audio media as a whole, and becoming more familiar with CMS services, web development, IT support and editorial decision making.Having taken some time off in the radio industry, I have taken the time to re-engage my customer service experience by lending my active listening skills, ability to break down information, and online skills to customers throughout Victoria, to better maintain and support their transportation needs through this tumultuous period that is COVID-19 My spare time it involves sleep ins, listening to podcasts, seeing some live music, reading, plus an inordinate amount of caffeine.
Listed skills include Leadership, Radio Broadcasting, Radio Announcing, Broadcast, and 12 others.
