I work closely with faculty members in the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University to provide research support for a variety of computational needs including data harvesting and analysis, parallel processing, and data infrastructure design. I am a member of the Research Support Services team, which is part of the Centers and Initiatives for Research, Curriculum & Learning Experiences (CIRCLE) group at the GSB.

I designed and analyzed data from laser- and x-ray-based experiments to closely investigate the fundamental atomic interactions that drive the capability of certain materials to convert waste heat to useful electricity* Engineered models and simulations of complex x-ray – matter interactions* Executed real-time processing and analysis of terabytes of x-ray detector images, streaming in at a rate of 120 images per second using Python and MATLAB* Extracted signals 1% above the noise level using singular value decomposition (SVD) * Implemented Fourier-based time-frequency analysis techniques to identify the origin and characterize the behavior of oscillatory signals from light – matter interactions* Directed 5 large-scale experiments at 4 major x-ray facilities * Collaborated as a member of interdisciplinary teams in over 20 different experiments

I instructed Stanford undergraduates in both physics laboratory and discussion sections for three quarters.* Assisted in introductory physics courses teaching “Mechanics and Heat,” “Electricity and Optics,” and “Modern Physics.” * Communicated challenging and non-intuitive physics concepts to students who had little to no prior exposure to physics.* In laboratory sections, introduced students to the fundamental approach and mindset behind scientific experiments while they tested the real-world validity of newly learned concepts

I independently conceived, designed, and built SaFeRack (www.saferack.space), a web app that recommends locations of racks to park your bike in San Francisco based on historical crime data ranging back to 2003.* Constructed a pipeline to retrieve and store 2,000 bike parking racks (SF OpenData) and 10,000 bike theft crime incidents (SF OpenData, bikeindex.org) into a SQL database* Quantified risk via models of probability distribution functions of bike theft incidents derived using weighted kernel density estimation (KDE)* Devised a recommendation algorithm to suggest bike racks, achieving a 43% average improvement in relative risk with only 0.2 miles of extra walking compared to closest rack* Crafted a fully interactive, user-friendly front-end using Python, Flask, Bootstrap, Javascript, and Amazon Web Services

I used Raman spectroscopy to experimentally investigate the electronic and structural properties of large area graphene grown by molecular beam deposition.* Established an analysis scheme in MATLAB to analyze data on large-area graphene* Built and aligned tabletop experimental setup to collect Raman scattered light from samples
