Testified on Capitol Hill on economic and employment issues before the House Ways and Means Committee and the Joint Economic Committee, among others, and delivered numerous speeches on economic issues across the country. Appeared on a number of television programs, including C-SPAN’s Washington Journal, and was quoted in national publications such as the New York Times. Led efforts to reauthorize the Workforce Investment Act, Trade Adjustment Assistance and Title V of the Older Americans Act, as well as the transfer of the YouthBuild program from HUD to the Department of Labor.
Legislative And Marketing Director
Developed annual legislative action plan and implemented strategic priorities; managed and directed various marketing campaigns that included public relations, advertising and earned media components; served as legislative and marketing liaison for the states in order to facilitate best practices and communicate federal policy changes and managed the implementation of the Wage Record Interchange System, including the development of confidentiality policies and administrative procedures.
Public Affairs Director
Negotiated the legislation that implemented the largest reorganization in Utah state government history and welfare reform in Utah. Became the first Public Affairs Director, and immediately developed and implemented a nationally-recognized marketing effort. Because the Department was a new agency that never existed, experience included creating a new brand and new sets of brochures and publications, developing and implementing major television and radio marketing campaigns, creating internal employee video and written communication pieces and developing and maintaining a new Web site.
