Around 60% of the globally registered refugees come from three countries: Syria, Afghanistan, and South Sudan. In Germany, Syrians and Afghans constitute half of the total asylum applicants. My research project aims to help improve German and European migration policies by studying the origin and transit migration of Afghans and Syrians. The research explores refugees' integration opportunities and challenges as well as the role of influential actors/factors in migration and integration processes.

I was appointed as an expert to assist the EU Commission Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (RTD) with tasks in the context of managing of EU and Euratom research and innovation programs.It involved in particular, the following tasks:. reading and analyzing the background information (especially the proposal and the briefing material). participating in the expert briefings (meetings or webcast briefings). participating in evaluation meetings and hearings. drafting and submitting the evaluation reports for the evaluated prize applications and. other deliverables
