Masoud Amiri was born in Isfahan, Iran. In 1987, he got his B.Sc. of Public Health from Isfahan university, Iran. He graduated as a M.Sc. of Epidemiology in 1991 at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Iran. From 1991, he served as a teacher in Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences, Iran. In 2002 he moved to the Netherlands and began a M.Sc. in Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, where he graduated in 2003. In 2005, Masoud was able to earn D.Sc. of Epidemiology at Erasmus MC, Rotterdam. In 2010, he also got his Ph.D. of Epidemiology at the Department of public health in Erasmus MC, Rotterdam.After obtaining his Ph.D., Masoud went back to his country, from where he had been sponsored to study in the Netherlands. He served as a teacher until November 2018 in the faculty of Medical Sciences, in Shahrekord, Iran. He also served as the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Epidemiologic research (IJER) from 2014 to 2018. In September 2018, he was awarded as the top reviewer of the Netherlands by Publons’ global peer review for the second year in a row. He has also been head of Social Determinants of Health Research center from 2012 to 2017.Outside of professional interests, he enjoys travelling, reading and cycling in nature and spending time with his family. Family is an important aspect of his life -- his wife (another academic in neuroscience), two sons (both PharmD).
