The Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco is one of sixteen Japanese Government offices in America that provides Consular services to Northern California and Nevada. My responsibilities included:• Planned public and cultural programs and events. • Designed Consulate promotional materials.• Acted as a liaison for visiting diplomats and dignitaries.• Built and maintained relationships with local press.• Created and distributed the online publication, “Japan Now,” which reached over 1,700 people.• Wrote, edited, and translated speeches, remarks, and correspondence for consular officials.• Updated and maintained the Consulate website with local events and information.• Oversaw the Consulate Internship Program.Notable accomplishments included:• Planned a series of events celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Kanrin Maru’s arrival to San Francisco – the largest event boasting an attendance of over 2,000 people.• Received front page coverage in the San Francisco Chronicle on an article about Japanese high-speed rail (HSR).• Coordinated an interview for former Prime Minister of Japan Morihiro Hosokawa.

Yelp is the internet’s leading web 2.0 local search site that taps into the community’s voice and reveals honest and current insights on local businesses and services. Responsibilities included:• Participated in the company’s growth from a small start-up to a major force in the internet local ad space as one of the first 40 sales associates, • Consulted with local businesses in the Bay Area and New York City on online advertising and marketing strategies, promoting and selling Yelp local advertising products and solutions. • Initiated and maintained strategic relationships through prospecting, referrals, and networking.

Selected as one of three Williams College students invited to participate in the prestigious JET Program, which encompassed 5,508 participants from 44 countries in 2006.Accomplishments include:• Taught English to more than 350 students during tenure, many of whom became top students in their respective English classes at the sole magnet high school in Shimane Prefecture.• Implemented English curriculum for students ranging from ages 12-15. • Created and supervised the Takatsu Junior High School English Club.• Created the Shimane Touch Rugby Club in 2006.
