In his country of origin, Senegal, Dr. Massamba Gueye has worked as an agro-meteorological expert dealing mainly with assessing the impact of climate on food crops production and giving advices to Government on potential occurrence of drought for timely decision-making, economic planning and rural development. He has also worked closely with farmers giving advices on optimum planting dates and adapted cropping calendar to boost yield of food crops.As a senior engineer at NTC international Co., Ltd., he has been involved in various studies related to integrated rural development projects overseas, funded under the Japanese Government ODA (Official Development Assistance) Program. His activities involved primarily identifying and formulating for given developing countries projects to be proposed for Japan funding after field surveys and data collection were completed in the said countries. He also has participated in Feasibility and Master Plan Studies carried out under the ODA umbrella as either an expert in Hydrology/Meteorology or an Environmental Specialist. Furthermore, his personal dedication in trying to fulfill company goal in the today very competitive market has required him to work as a multi-disciplinary expert, not only active in agriculture development but also in social science. For this reason, he has worked as a participatory development expert in several Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) projects. He has focused recently in projects dealing with capacity building for farmers, irrigation water users associations and for institutions dealing with planning and management in a broader sense.
