I’m involved in the projects related to the water treatment plants at Danieli & C. My principal duties are:•Responsibility for coordination of the technical activities on assigned projects related to water treatment plant and related equipment.•Engineering design (mainly basic) and preparation of: general and technical specifications, vendor evaluations, vendor follow up for the engineering documents related to the jobs, site documentation (erection and O&M manuals).•Equipment specification and selection, in co-operation with procurement dept., selection of appropriate and viable sub-contractors for equipment and plants.•Ensuring compliance with design standards and good engineering practice.•Site supporting and assisting project managers, project engineering and direct involvement in site activities (if requires) as technical support for the plant and related equipment

As Project Engineer for the Water Treatment Plant the following duties was accomplishment:•Process flow diagrams as basic engineering.•Technical specification for the purchasing activity for the equipment and packages plants related to the water treatment plants (pumps, cooling towers, plate heat exchanger, air coolers, dosing units, self cleaning filters, lamellar clarifier, reverse osmosis plants, demineralization plants, softening plants, blowers, oil skimmer, bucket hoists, press filters, centrifugal separators, belt press filters, thickeners) and also for the chemical treatment programs related to the water treatment plants (cooling circuits, sludge treatment and reverse osmosis chemicals). •Technical evaluations of the offers proposed by the vendors.•Meetings with the vendors for the technical clarifications points and support to the purchasing dept. and project managers. •Activity of coordination with the piping, civil and instrumentation groups for the design activity (basic engineering).•Dealing with suppliers (Italian and foreign) in order to deliver the equipment and engineering documents in respect of the job’s time schedule. •Compilation of the Use and Maintenance Manuals for Water Treatment Plants.•Technical support to the commissioning as interface between commissioning people and vendors. •Chemical treatment evaluation and suggestion of the corrective actions to do by checking the analytical reports of the water quality in the various circuits.

As proposal and process engineer I was involved in:•Process flow diagrams and basic layouts for the bids.•Compilation of the Use and Maintenance Manuals for Water Treatment Plants•Cost evaluation (mechanical equipment, instrumentation) for the proposed treatment plants.•Bids technical specifications for the proposed water treatment plants.•As process and proposal engineer I was involved in the technical meetings with the customers.

Polyester chemistry (PET, PETG,PBT,elastomers) R&D:1.Synthesis by pilot plants (melt state and solid state polymerizations) of new types of polyesters and optimization of the currents.2.Tests of new types of catalyst and additives for polyesters.3.Processing of polymers by the commons processing machines, injection moulding, extrusion (for films and bottles and rheologicaly tests: Filtration test for the film area).4.Patents search at the patents data banks: STN, US patent office and European patent office.5.Dealing with the analytical laboratory (quality controll lab) for the analysis of polymers.6.Dealing with the production people for the planning of the industrial test to the production plant.7.Technical service to the customers for the test of new polymers and for the claims (injection moulding, injection – stretch blow moulding, extrusions for film and sheets and extrusion blow moulding ).8.Compilation of technical reports concerning the results achieve by the research activities.9.Teaching activity to the production people; base polymer chemistry and the base of processing techniques of the plastic materials.During that period the main research projects I was involved in the following projects:1.PET sinthesis by new catalysers (mainly titanium base chemistry) in replace of antimonium salts catalysis.2.High viscosity PET by means of solid state polymerization. The polymer produced was tested by SIPA (Zoppas Group) in Vittorio Veneto.3.PETG modified in order to increase the mechanical performances. Cicloexane dimethanol was used in combination of ethylene glygol. The polymer was produce in industrial scale and tested in Germany at the Barlo Plastic facility (sheets producer) and in Italy by Plastopiave (flask producer).4.Feasibility study by means of pilot plant tests for the production of thermoplastic elastomers.5.PBT (polybutilene-terephtalate) pilot plant syntesis.6.Extrusion test and injection moulding test for the customers claims checks.
