DocSpace supports Excel-to-Excel linking over the Internet through the Spreadsheetspace initiative. In particular it allows Excel users to expose spreadsheet elements (i.e. ranges, tables and whole sheets) to other users and to incorporate spreadsheet elements exposed by other users in spreadsheets. Spreadsheet Space provides automatic spreadsheet synchronization. In addition, it supports Software Platform-to-Excel synchronization and gives spreadsheet users the possibility to create presentations based on Software Platform data which evolves over time. Technically the Spreadsheet Space is supported by a distributed software platform leveraging the concept of Edge Computing.Ref: M. San Francisco Bay Area

As the Head of the Scientific Office of the Consulate General of Italy in San Francisco I was in charge of the relationships between the Italian high tech system and the scientific and academic ecosystem of the Bay Area of San Francisco. In this capacity, I consulted Italian universities, research centers and high tech companies to help them establish a presence in the Bay Area, to activate relationships with the research institutions and companies located in the Bay Area, and to activate joint ventures. Furthermore, I create opportunities for the brightest Italian talents to undertake doctoral studies and/or to join high tech companies in the Bay Area.

Originally M3S (Marconi Triple Play Solutions) was a spin-off of my group and of Marconi Communications. The goal of the company was to address the upper layer communication protocols, leveraging the strength of Marconi Communications in optics and circuit switching and the skill of my group in packet switching, distributed systems and software platforms.At M3S I was the founder and kept the role of a Science Advisor for several years.

I spent eighteen years at the University of Padova as a Professor of Computer Engineering in the Department of Information Engineering and in the School of Statistics. In that period I taught classes on Computer Systems and Computer Networks, supervised tens of undergraduate and graduate students, coordinated several national and European projects in the area of computer systems, networks and services, directed the Graduate School of Industrial Computer Engineering and the Research Center on Computer Platform Engineering, and was Vice Rector for information systems.

Click and Find is a spin off company of my research group deriving from a European Commission funded research project in Intelligent Transportation Systems. I co-founded the company and helped it to take off up to a point at which I decided to take the role of an advisor. The company has been profitable for many years and employs about twenty people.

Hub was a joint effort my research team and the Freight Forwarder Association of the Port of Genova, Italy, which is the second largest port in the Mediterranean Sea. The company created and deployed the first document transmission system in the Italian Customs Authority to replace paper declarations by electronic transmission, and later became the main information service provider for the port community.

I was appointed Italian Delegate by the Italian Prime Minister. In that capacity I had the opportunity to coordinate Internet Governance in Italy and to act as an interface between the Italian Internet ecosystem and ICANN.

As a Technical Counsellor in the Office of the Prime Minister I was in charge of very large scale projects on the deployment of e-government technology in the Italian Public Administration, both at the infrastructure level and at the application level. That allowed me gain a unique experience on how to harmonize the constraints deriving from the presence of legacy systems and from the natural resistance to change in very large organizations with the speed of evolution of information and communication technology.
