Massimo Caiazzo (Naples, 1966) is a color expert and scholar who combines teaching with design work and color consultancy. He applies a sensible approach to light and color in the fields of architecture, industrial design, fashion and communication.He teaches Color Design at the SPD (Polytechnic School of Design, Milano), and lectures at schools all over the world. He also enjoys creating exhibitions, the most recent of which was “Policromia”, held at the Royal Palace in Santo Domingo (2019).His background in color was jump-started at Atelier Mendini in Milan (1990–2006), where he was part of the team run by the great designer and artist Alessandro Mendini, a master of polychrome. Caiazzo is also indebted to Frank Mahnke and Narciso Silvertini for their teachings on the interdisciplinary nature of color and the importance of sharing its culture and making it a resource for the rehabilitation of our built surroundings. He is a formidable asset to the IACC in all respects.”Frank Mahnke, Founder AICCE - President IACCAs a Colour Consultant, he has developed chromatic researches in several fields: nautical, car industry (Fiat 500, Lancia Y), in public transport (natural gas buses, Verona), in urban furniture (Naples), in interior architecture (house-studio of Gianna Nannini (a famous Italian rock-star, Milan; Banca Albertini Syz, Milan), in design (Philips, Alessi, Swatch, Bisazza), in fashion design (Etro, Guardiani), in exhibit design (Essere-Benessere Triennale di Milano, Milan; Normali Meraviglie, Genoa), in the creation of events and performances (Colour is Music, Milan; Synestesia, Milan) and in the artistic field (he is the author, with Alessandro Mendini, of “Biancaneve”, a sculpture inspired by the seven colours of the rainbow, “Future Film Festival” collection).Specialties: Designer and Color Consultant,In 2008 he conceived and planned the very first chromatic renovation work in Europe of a prison with the no-profit project “Colore a Bollate” (Colour at Bollate Prison). The project is based on the effects of colours on time flowing and on the perception of spaces. The realization of the whole project also involved some prisoners.
