After a period helping the business drive sales performance and investing in the business, School Website was successfully sold in December 2016 to Finalsite, a global leader in SaaS web solutions and digital marketing for the education industry.

Formed from the merger of PayPoint subsidiaries PayByPhone and PayPoint.net, PayPoint Mobile & Online is a leader in multi-channel payment solutions for businesses. The business serves millions of customers across Europe and North America, handling over 110 million transactions across both mobile and web channels, worth almost £5 billion pa. The flagship PayByPhone mobile parking service has over 7 million customer registrations.

PayPoint plc subsidiary Collect+, provides a network of parcel points in thousands of PayPoint corner shops where consumers can drop off or pick up parcels at a time and place that suits them. The service is a popular alternative to the inconvenience of waiting at home for a delivery to arrive or queuing at a Post Office to send or collect a parcel.

Payment processing business with over 23,000 UK retail outlets (mainly in convenience stores) processing over 650m cash payments every year for almost all the UK's big bill issuers (including utilities, telecoms providers and local authorities). PayPoint also operates a large ATM network, has a payments subsidiary specialising in mobile and online payments and runs retail networks in Southern Ireland and Romania.

A large scale customer service outsourcing operation with thousands of staff managing call centres and billing operations for blue chip clients including BT, the Co-operative Bank and Kingfisher. The business was successfully sold to Capita some years after my departure.

BBC Subscription Television was a commercial arm of the BBC evaluating the viability of generating subscription television revenue through the development of specialist programming for niche audiences including lawyers and accountants. I sat on the board of various BBC joint venture companies (such as one with the College of Law).

A joint venture company owned by Next plc and US cable TV software specialists Cabledata, BSS operated a large outsourced customer service operation in support of newly established British Satellite Broadcasting (which was acquired by Sky in 1991).

One of the direct marketing agencies within the Omnicom group my account team was responsible for financial services accounts Marks & Spencer Financial Services and Friends Provident as well as charities St Johns Ambulance and the RAF Benevolent Fund.

NWS was the finance house subsidiary of Bank of Scotland. The Marketing Executive was responsible for running direct mail campaigns for unsecured personal loans. The company was, at the time, the UK's leading direct marketeer in financial services.
