Expansive experience in all phases of production of high purity titanium, nickel, and cobalt, from process development to finished part. An uncommon degree of mechanical aptitude allows me to diagnose, troubleshoot, and continuously improve a wide variety of metalworking equipment to keep the plant producing quality parts at high throughput and high yield. In charge of master recipes for all parts in SAP, as well as change control procedures. Highly invested in process safety, providing initial SOPs, JSAs, and working closely with HSE professionals to make sure jobs get done accurately and safely. Certified Green Belt and Black Belt trained, with a natural interest in solving problems with both data and experience. I constantly interface with Quality and Production to provide solutions and meet on-time delivery expectations. Areas of expertise include vacuum melting, electron beam melting, open die forging, ECAE forging, rolling, heat treatment, and machining.

Managed a metallurgical lab with 6 technicians to provide fast turnaround analysis required for in-line process management and operational decision making. Services included ICP-MS trace metal analysis, LECO gas testing, as well as grain size and crystallographic texture measurement. Emphasized standardized operations to provide accurate results and safe operations, achieving zero OSHA recordable accident rate with processes utilizing hazardous chemicals.

Provided technical and sales support for a wide range of high purity metals and alloys supplied to the hard drive industry. Worked with end customers such as Seagate to understand technical requirements, review specifications and drawings. Provided product pricing and lead time; ensured plant processes were in place to produce quality parts on time. Resolved technical issues by visiting customers and then leading needed changes in the plant to ensure business success.

Mentored by an industry leader to learn all aspects of titanium refining, melting, and thermomechanical processing. As my understanding matured, I got called on to meet with end customers such as Intel and IBM to understand field issues, and then lead changes in processes and quality standards to continuously improve the product performance. Routinely traveled to silicon valley to support sales staff in presenting new product technology while driving existing product performance.
