Executive Vice President For Global Advocacy, Policy, And Stakeholder Relations
CurrentPromoted to a senior member of the executive team within 14 months. Enhanced duties, in addition to the on-going advocacy responsibilities below, include overseeing the organization’s board governance program, office of the general counsel, and risk management, compliance, and data governance team. Supervise the planning and execution of meetings of the IIA Global Board of Directors and North American Board of Directors. Collaborate closely with the CEO and others members of the Executive Leadership Team on the development of organizational strategy, HR policies, legal/compliance matters, and profession/organizational innovation (e.g. artificial intelligence). Develop, in consultation with the CEO and boards of directors, the organization’s official public policy positions. Oversee cross-functional collaboration (e.g. with the Standards & Guidance, Membership, & Affiliate Relations Teams) on various initiatives (public comment opportunities, educating policymakers about The IIA’s standards and certifications, securing elected and appointed government officials at conferences). Currently spearheading the drafting of and stakeholder consultation on a first-of-its-kind legal and regulatory framework for the profession; managing the development of model global legislation for our 116 affiliates and model state legislation for our newly launched U.S. state policy program; and directing original public policy research examining internal audit laws in Canada.
