Matej Vucić (mag.oecol. et prot.nat.) was born on March 17, 1991 in Slavonski Brod, where he finished elementary school and classical grammar school. He received the title of Master of Ecology and Nature Protection at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology in 2015. From December 2015 to December 2016 he worked as a trainee biologist at the Croatian Institute for Biological Diversity. Since February 2017 he was working as expert associate, biologist at the Croatian Biological Research Society, and serving as a President of the Society since December 2018. From the June 2018 until May 2021 he was employed as an expert biologist at BIOTA Ltd.From May 2021 he is working as reasearch assistant at Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. His work and area of interest include ichthyology and herpetology, primarily phylogenetics, molecular ecology, morphometry, ecology and phylogeography. He participated in several research abroad: genetic research in EBI Ecologie & Biologie des Interactions (UMR 7267) of the Université de Poitiers, France, as well as morphometric and meristic research of European Minnow (Phoxinus phoxinus) at the Natural History Museum in Vienna through the SYNTHESYS project. He was an expert associate and co-host in the educational show at Croatian Television (HRT) "Školski sat". Since November 2016, he is a postgraduate (doctoral) student at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology. He is author and co-author of several scientific publications and as author and co-author he participated in biological congresses.
