My career at Cargopak LTD has moved forward well over my time here. I have continued to add to my 2D draughting capabilities as well as train to build 3D models in new software. As well my CAD design I am also called upon to manufacture bespoke samples for customers and therefore I am heavily involved in the design and development process. I regularly travel to the far east where we have various facilities and suppliers who manufacture for us. I am responsible for ensuring the factories manufacture our products exactly to our drawings. I also oversea the shipping and freight logistics involved in importing our goods and follow this up with our QA procedures for the assembly line.I have been involved in the introduction of various quality assurance procedures to help increase productivity, consistency and reliability in our UK manufacturing facility. This has been possible due to consultation through an external QA advisory and previous experience at my last employment where I played a key role in the successful bid for ISO2001.

Colwick Nottingham

I started work at Simons Reeve as a production welder and moved up the ranks into Goods inwards, Jig Maker and eventually Assistant Technical manager. During my employment there my skills adapted to suit my new positions from dealing with stock control and deliveries, making jigs for the manufacturing process, developing bespoke samples and eventually training to use Autocad LT to develop CAD drawings for internal and supplier use. During my time as Assistant Technical Manager I also gained experience in Microsoft Office, purchasing, estimating, costing and developed relationships with customer and suppliers.Unfortunately the company went into liquidation in 2009 but I was lucky enough to be contacted by my current employer to take on a role using my more recent experience in their developing company.

Monks Road Lincoln

During my time at Bowmans I gained valuable experience working in a modern accident repair facility. I was responsible for the preparation and painting of vehicles after they had been repaired/stripped. The company used a time related bonus system which allowed me to occupy 2 bays at a time which meant I was able to delegate my time between jobs for a slot in the spray booths.

Colwick

I worked at the MG centre restoring classic cars from the scrap heap to as good as new. My duties ranged from carrying out all the necessary welding repairs right through to prep and paint. I would also be involved in the re-fit of all the carpets and upholstery and occasionally I would get involved in the mechanical aspect of the project if needed.

After leaving school I went straight to MG Raws to train as a paint sprayer working on classic Volkswagons to nearly new. I attended North Lincs College on a day release scheme where I gained a City and Guilds level 1, 2 and 3 in vehicle body repair. I also gained a RTITB level 1, 2 and 3 and a National Craft certificate in the same subject. After completing my college course I left the company and moved to Nottingham to live with my current girlfriend.
