Working in TV news as a photojournalist, I have won three Emmy awards, a few Illinois Associated Press and Texas Association of Broadcasters awards, and many National Press Photographers Association recognitions. I first came to KENS in 2018, and am currently my station's go-to person for special projects and any assignment that is of especially high importance or is of a sensitive or difficult nature. I also regularly produce day-turn content, filming and editing an entire news story in a matter of hours.I am equally comfortable working solo as a one-man-band or as part of a team. I am an expert in all variety of news storytelling, from run-and-gun breaking news situations, to complicated multi-camera interviews that take hours of prep time.I've edited multiple long-form documentaries for national broadcast over Tegna's OTT channels. I am a newsroom leader and mentor, and I spend many personal hours mentoring journalists, both those at my station and those I have no working relation to. I also lead through training, including organizing a virtual training workshop, recording a two-hour long class on editing in Premiere Pro, and teaching at in-person workshops.

While working there, I learned from many masters of the craft and elevated my artistic understanding of video storytelling, as well as learning valuable technical techniques and experiencing a wide variety of news coverage situations.While working at this top station was a longtime career goal, I left KUSA and transferred back to KENS in San Antonio to be closer to family in Texas.

As chief photojournalist for WICS-TV, I oversaw training of news staff, maintenance of video equipment and vehicle fleet, and planning and logistics of major event coverage. In addition, I performed all regular photojournalist duties on a day-to-day basis, and served as the primary photographer for special projects and high-importance assignments.

I briefly transitioned to the creative services department at WICS-TV because there was a need to level up the video production quality of their promotions. I was brought to the department because of my superior videography skills. In this roll, I created promotional content for the station, and I also created commercial content for external clients. I also set up and ran the production of many live-broadcast shows involving multiple cameras, anchors, and guests. I left this position to return to the news department as the chief photojournalist after the former one transitioned out of that role.
