(8) Design of 4-mile long, 48-inch diameter interceptor sewer in Macomb County, Michigan. (9) Evaluation of Hamilton and Utah dams built in the 1920s in Flint, Michigan, as part of the Flint River Restoration Project. Formerly with Woodward-Clyde ConsultantsFoundation analysis and design; geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; construction monitoring; failure analysis; analysis and design of retaining structures, slopes, embankments, and underground facilities; design of soil improvement and dewatering procedures; preliminary evaluation of CSO control alternatives such as basins, rock and soft ground tunnels, and new concepts.Major Projects: (1) Geotechnical investigation, instrumentation, impact assessment, design of embankments and retaining structures, and soil improvement for the I-15 corridor reconstruction, a design-build project, involving 16 miles of roadway, 160 bridges, high embankments, several urban interchanges, and retaining walls through the Salt Lake City metropolitan area as part of preparing the city for the Winter 2002 Olympics. (2) Design of Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining walls for the McNamara Terminal of the Detroit Wayne County International Airport. (3) Emergency geotechnical instrumentation, monitoring, and reporting as part of the failure evaluation of the Joliet Road in Chicago, Illinois which failed overnight as part of a mining operation in the vicinity. (4) Carr Reclamation Project involving study of the collapse of abandoned mine shafts in Saginaw, Michigan.

Mr. Mathari managed Eastern Province office of the company with over 180 personnel from 16 different countries. Area operations included marketing of consulting and contracting services, client development, procurement of sub-consultant/subcontractor services, contract and budget negotiations, personnel management, hiring and training of engineers and technicians, and planning and execution of projects. The area office, started with less than ten staff members, grew to become one of the main revenue generating offices of the company.Major Projects: 1- Management of three onsite laboratories (soil, asphalt, and concrete) for a comprehensive quality control and material testing program for the King Fahad International Airport (KFIA) in Dammam using a team of more than 160 personnel to monitor the work of more than 35 subcontractors. 2- Supervision of site/civil, quality control, and construction material testing for the King Fahad Medical City in Riyadh. 3- Supervision of an independent testing laboratory, geotechnical investigation for the five new residential districts, and as-needed civil/structural tasks for the Jubail Industrial City. 4- Off-shore geotechnical investigation and foundation analysis for the platforms in Safaniyah and Berri oil fields. 5- Geotechnical investigation, soil improvement, and construction monitoring for Qunfudah and Adhum hospitals. 6- Feasibility evaluation of a 240 mile access road to Shaybah oil field. 7- Study, analysis, design, and installation of offshore screens in red sea shore to protect swimming areas of a private palace from sharks, barracudas, and jelly fish. 8- Study of the behavior of expansive shale of Tabuk and soft soil (Subkha) of Gizan. 9- Distress evaluation and retrofitting of the pre-cast, pre-stressed double T girders of the 8 mile long trestle system of the Ju'aymah loading terminal. 10- Conduct a landscape under drainage study of the reclaimed land for the Jubail Industrial City. http://www.rgme.com/
