My Cell Biology department helped propel Mavacamten to it's ultimate FDA approval as Camzyos, the first and only cardiac myosin inhibitor that specifically targets the source of obstructive HCM.

• Conducted two rounds of pilot studies at US FDA to evaluate MEAs for prediction of clinical TdP arrhythmias. Played critical role in experimental design and conducted all MEA recordings. • Coauthored $2.1 million NIH SBIR grant for automation of multiwell MEAs. • Trained leading scientists in pharma, academia, government, and contract research in use of MEAs for drug discovery/safety, disease modeling, and environmental toxicology.• Worked extensively with commercial suppliers of primary and stem cell-derived neurons and cardiomyocytes to develop phenotypic screening assays with MEAs.• Worked directly with collaborators in academia to identify MEA-based Parkinson’s phenotypes in patient-stem-cell derived neurons. Conducted first published MEA-based recordings of human stem-cell derived dopaminergic neurons.• Identified new applications and markets for MEA, through invited and sponsored presentations at scientific conferences, and through collaboration with keystone customers in pharma and academia.

Managed worldwide product sales. Designed, installed, and supported cutting-edge electrophysiology systems for academic and pharma industry research.

Developed patented nanopore-based sensor technology for structural characterization of single polynucleotide fragments. Diverse scientific methods were employed to advance the project from concept to a practical technology capable of reporting multiple characteristics of DNA fragments. Devices based of these sensors may ultimately be useful for detection and identification of trace amounts of pathogen DNA, as well as detection of human gene expression or polymorphisms. United States Patent 7949472 was awarded for this technology.
