Working across a range of different sectors has given me a multidisciplinary approach to research. I have led projects in desalination and water treatment, ultrasound characterization, additive manufacturing, municipal solid waste treatment, cosmetics, emulsions and surface chemistry. I have a PhD in Surface Chemistry and have worked at a range of environments from lab to industry scale. I have also undertaken research in industry, at government research institutes and in academia. My specific experience includes:DESALINATION AND WATER TREATMENTI was part of the successful bid for the $23M AUD National Centre of Excellence in Desalination Australia (see attached media). My desalination projects have included:• Reverse Osmosis (lab and pilot scale)• Forward Osmosis• Forward Osmosis/Reverse Osmosis (lab and pilot scale)• Capacitance Deionisation• Evaporative Bubble Column (thermal system)• Humidification DehumidificationULTRASOUND CHARACTERISATIONI have been trained on a variety of ultrasonic characterization equipment - much of which was hand built by its inventor. I am currently working on a new method of acoustic characterization which measures the scattering of ultrasonic waves and also working on a project to develop crispier foods for consumersADDITIVE MANUFACTURINGI am trained in the use of AUTOCAD and SolidWorks and have designed a wide range of prototype equipment. I have extensive experience in additive manufacturing for rapid prototyping using a variety of resins and different printersSURFACE CHEMISTRYIn Surface Chemistry, I have led experimental projects developing new cosmetics, coatings and drug delivery systems (see New Scientist and Catalyst media links below).
