Teach Undergraduate Courses in Information Technology and Computer Science

Handles all administrative tasks for 360 personnel on behalf of the squadron commander. Duties include teaching, mentoring, budgeting, enforcing discipline, managing and planning squadron-wide programs, interfacing with community and military leaders, participating in legal proceedings, and public speaking engagements. Also serves as personal advisor to the squadron commander on morale, host base functions and enlisted and officer career development.

Responsible for creating a cyber component within the United States Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC). Specifically identifies skills, training, manning, and resources to create military units responsible for building and maintaining the cyber domain as well as defending and attacking resources within the cyberspace domain. Leveraged a blend of corporate, academic and military best practices to implement a wide variety of technological requirements. Represented the CIO in conference discussions concerning DoD, USAF, and AFRC communications and information policy and procedure decisions.

Led 131 personnel in installing and maintaining all communications needs for more than 6,000 users. Resolved more than 46,000 customer issues including satellite communications, network defense, plain old telephone service, medical equipment and automated patient records, unmanned aerial vehicles, data storage and security, as well as 35 miles of fiber optic and copper cabling infrastructure.

Oversaw the purchase of more than $15M in IT systems supporting 25,000 users across the United States. Deployed new voice mail services and obtained rebroadcast rights and technology for streaming video to the desktop. Selected to assist the Department of the Air Force create new communications career field requirements. Identified more than 400 knowledge, skills, and abilities required to create and defend a cyber domain as well as potential cyber attack specialties. Drafted a training progression course of action and technical school responsibilities for new communications officers.

Member of a team which researched the spending of $50M over 3 years on 22 failed IT projects. Led investigation into business processes by conducting interviews and reviewing corporate guidelines. Identified more than 20 business process improvements which were adopted as the “IT Playbook” for future procurements.

Responsible for software development, testing, implementation and operation for the nation’s premier nuclear command and control communications system. Produced two significant software upgrades annually for clients, servers and mainframe. Leveraged 1970’s era computer technologies to create and maintain a 99.8% message delivery rate which outperformed modern satellite communications systems. Tasked with developing executive level information technology training for 35 personnel when no training had previously existed. Program was lauded by senior executives and was submitted to higher echelons for adoption by more than 2,000 personnel across the Air Force.

Responsible for the component level repair of five different types of high frequency transmission systems including vacuum tube and solid state technologies in support of the President of the United States, Armed Forces Radio and Television Network, and Air Force and Navy aircraft emergency communications. Was recognized as the best specialist on site, innovative maintenance practices were adopted by the Air Force saving more than $100,000 annually. Chosen above peers to develop new training and evaluation program when maintenance responsibilities expanded to include air traffic control communications systems. Established course completion schedule, incorporated more than 400 tasks from 16 diverse communication systems and oversaw the training of 23 personnel ranging from the novice to seasoned professional.
