Every opportunity to escape the city is utilised where I assist in the field with orchard duties as well as training and monitoring staff to ensure quality of work. During the ‘sales’ season I often liaise with our clients and inspect fruit quality when we supply commercial stores and markets located in Perth and the southwest.

My role within the company developed as I made the transition from Graduate of Architecture to Registered Architect.Duties (in addition to the below Graduate Architect Role):Assist in project Tendering duties, including liaising with prospective builders, answering any queries during the tender period and undertake assessment of submitted tenders for conformity and value for money.Undertake and/or assist with project contract administration duties. Including but not limited to, liaising with the contractor on site, assessment of contract RFI’s and variations, issuing architects instruction or advice as required, undertake periodic site visits and inspections as required to ensure quality and accuracy of the construction process is as per contract documents.

Here I developed my architectural skills across multiple projects ranging from residential, multi-residential and small commercial projects with an eye to register as an architect in Western Australia.A summary of duties include, but not limited to:Undertake preliminary feasibility studies and site analysis to inform the client of the potential for the selected site.Liaise with local councils and state planning authorities to understand and communicate site requirements and/or limitations in order to develop the project and gain council approval.Liaise with clients and/or client representatives to keep them informed of the projects status.Develop and coordinate coherent design and documentation packages with the consultant team to enable the project to be realised.Assist in contract administration dutiesManage project time and progress to ensure important deadlines are met.Participate and contribute to project and office meetings.In addition to my architectural role, I also undertake various IT related duties within the office.Duties here include, but not limited to:Manage and assist colleagues with any IT (hardware and software) issues.Liaise with the external IT company who successfully manage and maintain office servers and equipment.Assist in the development of office drafting standards and QA protocols.Learn new drafting/modelling software (Revit) and assist in its implementation and transition into the office.

During this 6 month contract period I worked on a large project located in the North-West of Western Australia for a major resource company providing executive housing in Onslow. As part of a six person team I worked through schematic design and design development on a range of housing designs that utilise a hybridised modular and in-situ construction system.
