Delivering for Grubhub has taught me critical skills in the food delivery sector. On a typical day, I would be in charge of arriving at restaurants, collecting one or multiple orders, and delivering them to customers on time. Confirming orders were correct was another responsibility; verifying names, checking if all items were present, and checking if silverware was included. I would then have to deliver orders before or at the estimated time of arrival. This would mean that I would either have to go by the pickup and drop off order Grubhub had assigned me or I would have to modify it. This included dropping off or picking up based on location, restaurant delays, or road conditions such as construction or freight train passage. This would all be done with direct and clear communication with customers. Delivering with Grubhub has taught me how to manage time, manage orders, verify the correctness of orders, and communicate to customers about the details of their delivery.

Returning to McDonald's expanded my skills in the restaurant industry. While continuing to process, make, and deliver orders efficiently and accurately, closing and custodial duties played a more significant role in my responsibilities. Washing kitchen equipment, mopping the kitchen and lobby floor, and replacing garbage bags were some of the tasks I completed daily. My superiors would again place me in the drive-through register and food delivery window for my efficiency and accuracy more often, as McDonald's business model focused more on drive-through orders. Working at McDonald's helped me improve my customer service, communication skills with superiors and colleagues, and my role as more of a team player for rushes or custodial positions.

Working for Sunset Foods expanded my knowledge of the retail and produce industry. As a produce restocker, I ensured that products had not expired or spoiled, rotating inventory by placing newer products behind ones currently on shelves and making the sales floor presentable for guests. Fulfilling orders for customers was a key role I would take on. This included placing customized fruit tray orders for guests and delivering curb-side orders to vehicles. During a closing shift, my tasks included bringing perishable produce from the sales floor to the freezer, covering produce perishable to light, such as onions, potatoes, and citrus fruit, and cleaning, sanitizing, and preparing the salad bar for the following day. Sunset Foods has taught me how to strategically place products for purchase, note inventory to inform my superior of stock, and handle products with federal and state sanitation standards.

Starting in July, I set up merchandise racks, animatronics, and decorations such as wallpaper, ambient fog and lighting, and stages. Stores received shipments weekly. Unloading deliveries were done by loading boxes onto trolleys or carrying them to the backroom directly. I would go on to the setup of the Vernon Hills, Gurnee, and Round Lake Beach Locations. When my location opened, I would assist guests with inquiries, manage the point of sale, and ensure the sales floor was clean and stocked. Working for Spirit Halloween expanded my skills in the retail industry by gaining experience in shipping and receiving, setting up stores, and accommodating for supply on hand.
