Technical Services Department, Air Quality Engineering SectionSupervise a team of engineers that manage permitting, research, and regulatory compliance projects.Supervise the preparation of technical reports and submittals to regulatory agencies.Prepare requests for proposals and contract documents to retain on-call engineering consultants and manage ongoing consultant projects.Prepare annual requests for proposals and manage contracts for air emission testing services at solid waste and wastewater facilities.Review and recommend personnel actions including selections, evaluations, and discipline for employees of the section.Oversee preparation of the annual operating budget for the section.Manage, conduct, and review complex studies and manage the preparation of related correspondence and reports.Coordinate with other departments and sections to establish project priorities and scheduling, ensuring deadlines are met.Review and comment on regulatory actions and proposed legislation.

Engineering Department, Sewer Design SectionPerform detailed design for new sewer construction and rehabilitation projects.Evaluate major non-districts projects for the Engineering Counter including sewer connections, relocations, and storm water diversions and provide comments and recommendations for implementation.Estimate project costs and schedule to meet districts’ goals.Coordinate with other sections to obtain environmental clearance documents, property easements, and design review.Develop a Request for Proposals for on-call engineering consulting services.Coordinate with various cities and utilities to obtain permits, agreements, and record drawings.Review construction submittals and provide comments and directions to contractors.Train and guide peers on sewer hydraulic modeling, GIS applications, and map-making.

Technical Services Department, Water Quality SectionPrepare and maintain industrial storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP) for solid waste and wastewater facilities.Perform statistical analyses on groundwater, surface water, and storm water data.Manage the implementation of construction SWPPPs for projects Districts-wide.Prepare technical reports, correspondence, and memoranda associated with regulations.Prepare and maintain spill prevention, control, and countermeasure (SPCC) plans for solid waste facilities.Manage and conduct complex storm water diversion studies and modeling.Perform storm water design and analysis for solid waste and wastewater facilities.Review and comment on regulatory actions and proposed legislation.

Prepare contract drawings, drainage exhibits, and technical reports.Assist with detailed area drainage master studies and plans using hydrologic modeling software.Perform on-site and off-site hydrologic analyses using mapping and modeling software.Design and analyze hydraulic structures and complex drainage systems:Culverts, Roadway Conveyance and Storm Drain Networks, Retention and Detention Structures, and Storm Water Channels.

Bridge Hydraulic Section (January 2014 - April 2014)Perform hydraulic and hydrologic calculations and studies. Draft and edit hydraulic and hydrologic design reports and plans. Review and understand department design procedures and manuals.Environmental Planning Group (September 2013 - December 2013):Write and review NEPA environmental clearance documents for several types of construction and maintenance projects. Compose Requests for Proposals and review consultant proposals. Manage several simultaneous groundwater well abandonment projects.Bridge Management Section (May 2013 - August 2013):Perform steel and concrete bridge inspections, write and code bridge inspection reports using the National Bridge Inventory System coding.

Lead 25-30 students through the engineering design process with help from professional mentors. Design and implement a rainwater collection system and dam repair project for a rural community in Western Kenya. Presented a complete design proposal to a Technical Advisory Committee made up of 6 professional engineers. Lead project and team meetings. Organize and prepare logistics including international travel requirements to perform Assessment Trip and Implementation Trip. Manage and coordinate project team and set deadlines for technical design report submission to EWB-USA. Write technical design reports including assessment, alternatives analysis, implementation, and health and safety as a team. Interact with local community to gather data and convey chapter's communication.

Course: CEE361 Introduction to Environmental EngineeringAssist Graduate Teaching Assistant in preparation of and during laboratory exercises.Hold review sessions for upcoming exams.

Perform support services to the Sub-Regional Operating Group (cities of Phoenix, Glendale, Tempe, Scottsdale, and Mesa) on the 91st Avenue Wastewater Treatment Plant.Collect and analyze flow and loading data to accurately determine operating and maintenance cost sharing between the cities.Prepare monthly and annual official reports and presentations that are presented at the monthly SROG meetings.Use statistical methods to project future flow and loading values that the cities use to allocate funding and plan future Water Reclamation Plants.Perform environmental and regulatory assistance and other special requests from each of the cities.

Swette Center for Environmental Biotechnology, Biodesign Institute.Assist PhD candidate in preparing and performing experiments related to Microbial Fuel Cells. Prepare protein assays to accurately determine Carbon Monoxide concentrations in solution. Introduce Carbon Monoxide solutions to Microbial Fuel Cells to prevent methanogenic microbial communities from developing.
