My latest promotion put me into a position to devise and establish IT policies and systems to support software development, database administration, enterprise document management, and data and analytics teams. I created a culture of excellence with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion that facilitated future-facing problem-solving through open communication. To that end, I author strategic technology roadmaps to develop and implement third-party enterprise applications for more than 4 divisions of DHHS, amounting to $378M.I cultivate positive and trusting relationships with senior leaders, including the Chief Information Officer (CIO), to brainstorm program initiatives that align IT strategies with business needs. On top of that, I direct and administer a $6.5M annual budget, research and adopt Azure PaaS cloud services, and oversee large IT transformation projects to replace legacy solutions. No one is successful in a role without the support of a strong team. As such, I source, hire, onboard, and train staff, contractors, and suppliers in executing multimillion-dollar IT projects, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and statements of work (SOWs).

As I continued to rise through the ranks into this senior-level position, I proactively led projects and anticipated application development needs (with or without a roadmap) for 2 divisions of DHHS. This involved articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and leveraging emerging technical solutions to solve business challenges. I mitigated operational risk, reduced waste, improved productivity, and supported training initiatives by using Kanban and Agile methodologies. My team and I adopted a new Application Lifecycle Management platform (Jira) and delivered customized software solutions. I also acted as a point of contact for consultants and vendors, owning full-cycle project management processes to implement third-party systems.

After being promoted from IT Project Manager, I oversaw front-line operations and project implementation. My main focus was on driving improved operational processes. I managed change and problems/incidents by deploying infrastructure initiatives in alignment with department objectives. Most of the success centered around managing team performance, developing plans, and upgrading technology that served more than 2000 employees. One of the most notable accomplishments I had in this role involved pioneering the team’s shift to new operating systems (Windows 7) and directing the migration from Novell to Windows.
