Humanitarian Benchmark Consulting specializes in training, capacity building, evaluation, shelter, and coordination. The Humanitarian Bamboo Project is a not for profit initiative setup and supported by Humanitarian Benchmark Consulting.This project aims to bridge the gap between the knowledge held by skilled bamboo artisans and the very immediate need for practical solutions and recommendations for aid workers and affected communities in post disaster responses. The project continues to develop "The Humanitarian Bamboo Guidelines" which are an open source, no-logo resource providing clear, easily accessible guidance for humanitarian workers on how best to use bamboo in a sustainable and efficient manner in humanitarian response.I currently work alongside local and international teammates to develop the project's objectives: advancing the guidelines, creating bamboo relevant resources, experimenting with different treatment methods, and hosting bamboo workshops for improved training capacity.

BioArc is an Architectural Design Firm specialized in the emerging discipline of Bio-Architecture. Bio-Architecture can be defined as the art and science of designing and building spaces which create, support and enhance living systems.We create natural living environments with a particular focus on the energetic principles of nature. Our design approach is based on resonance techniques and harmonizing our buildings to the natural environment. This is done through extensive understanding of such topics as: sacred geometry, geomancy, electromagnetism, fractal mathematics, projected geometry, etc. Through the use of organic shapes, fractal patterns, certain proportions and bio-resonant ecological building materials it is possible to create both functional and sacred space that nurtures and heals the body, mind and spirit.This design approach takes a deep understanding of many disciplines and is a life long educational and experiential process. I work alongside the lead architect as a curious student of the world. We design, experiment, and practice different architectural techniques that are both new and ancestral. We find ourselves combining modern technology with ancient understanding to explore the outer reaches of what architecture is capable of accomplishing. Can architecture heal? I don't know but I am willing to find out.

I worked with an Ecuadorian Bamboo Architect and two Bamboo Carpenters to host workshops where students helped construct two modular shade structures. I acted in a Construction Manager capacity and facilitated the students engagement and bamboo construction education experience. Regeneration Field Institute hosts bamboo and agroforestry workshops on the Los Arboleros Farm in Chone, Ecuador. The RFI team leads and teaches visiting university students from the United States about bamboo construction, practical environmentalism, and sustainable business development.

I worked as an architectural professional with project management responsibilities. I produced working drawings for bidding / construction and managed on-going projects. My role varied on every project but I primarily either lead the design, produce renderings, draft, write up submittals, and/or act as the project manager. As project manager I organized site visits, meetings, write-ups, follow ups, scheduling, and project monitoring. The office is primarily CAD focused but Revit is used on select projects. The type of work is typically health care facility renovations with the occasional new build. Navigating around the NFPA 99: Health Care Facility Code, the International Building Code, and hospital policies regarding infection control and best practices make the job especially challenging.

I was contracted to do a design and build of an outside covered dining area. This was my first design/build and I was accompanied by three other workers. I led the design, harvesting, treatment, and construction of the Bamboo Gazebo Project and managed our four-person crew.

Provided design and communication input during meetings, designed the layout of the new website and video, and provided an overall vision for the charity's communication to the public.

I led a group of developing young men who were passionate about becoming the best versions of themselves. Kappa Sigma Epsilon is a fraternity built on the values of gentlemenship, professionalism, and holding a higher standard of self-accountability. I learned about leadership, business, culture, community engagement, event planning, empowerment and above all else: family.

I helped the Head Instructor run Tang Soo Do classes as well as teach students of all ages. I taught martial art forms, techniques, self-defense and sparring. I received my black belt in Tang Soo Do during the summer of 2010.
