Activities included collecting baseline data, forecasting assumptions and setting targets, and identifying actions to achieve the targets.Developed and led an engagement campaign on behalf of the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables to inform the development of Community Solar Regulations.

Bridgewater, Nova Scotia

The Clean Net Zero Project is a multi-sectoral collaboration between municipalities, technical experts, and lending institutions to map out a pathway that will reduce the barriers facing homeowners who want to make the leap to a Net Zero Home. Net Zero Homes are capable of producing enough renewable energy to offset it’s consumption over a period of one year. Through a combination of deep energy retrofits (to dramatically improving a home’s energy efficiency) with the installation of small-scale renewable energy generation, homes are able to be retrofitted to Net Zero. The Clean Net Zero Project aims to upgrade up to ten homes in Nova Scotia to Net Zero standard by March 2019. Other standards will be explored as well including Net Zero Carbon and Net Zero Ready.

In the FluxLab, we work collaboratively to develop new instrumentation, modeling, and analytical strategies for measuring Greenhouse Gas production and emission from soils. We also apply our knowledge to assist in leak detection and environmental performance in the energy industry.Duties included:- Collaborate internally with university departments and scientists, as well as externally with project partners (funding agencies, industry partners, other research groups, as well as government departments and agencies). - Manage reporting and financial aspects of projects, including financial tracking and forcasting.- Develop research grant proposals, contracts, and reporting documents. - Procurement of research equipment and materials.

Kejimkujik National Park And Historic Site

Duties included:- Completion of a risk assessment and management strategy for the introduction of invasive aquatic species.- Carry out ongoing long term ecological monitoring such as water quality, wildlife surveys, invasive species inventories. - Assisted in coastal restoration efforts at the Seaside Adjunct. - Collaborate with other members of the Resource Conservation Unit as required.

Duties included:- Plan and construct structures in the river to improve river function and fish habitat. - Implement erosion control techniques such as rock armoring banks and planting vegetation.- Conduct weekly water quality sampling to monitor the effects of project activities on the watercourse.- Liaise with landowners and other stakeholders.

Dalhousie University Life Science Centre (LSC) infrastructure renewal and sustainability initiative project. One of the main goals of the LSC Retrofit was to create a more sustainable building by: Reducing Dalhousie's ecological footprint by over 6,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually; increase indoor environmental quality; increase reliability of building systems; reduce dependancy and cost risk associated with fossil fuel consumption; create new thermal utility sources through heat recovery, and; address the building envelope and fabric issues.Duties included:- Supervise teams of contractors to ensure project completion accurate to project scope.- Coordinate with client, subcontractors, and the rest of the project management team to communicate project status and plan future direction.- Develop daily and weekly status reports and project deficiency lists.
