The Clean Net Zero Project is a multi-sectoral collaboration between municipalities, technical experts, and lending institutions to map out a pathway that will reduce the barriers facing homeowners who want to make the leap to a Net Zero Home. Net Zero Homes are capable of producing enough renewable energy to offset it’s consumption over a period of one year. Through a combination of deep energy retrofits (to dramatically improving a home’s energy efficiency) with the installation of small-scale renewable energy generation, homes are able to be retrofitted to Net Zero. The Clean Net Zero Project aims to upgrade up to ten homes in Nova Scotia to Net Zero standard by March 2019. Other standards will be explored as well including Net Zero Carbon and Net Zero Ready.
