Outgoing, quick learner that thrives in collaborative work. Indefatigable energy even (and especially) in the face of obstacles. Trying to build a team that works together with a shared vision and a mission beyond just the bottom line. Strong technical background & ability to communicate technical concepts-- What I'm Doing Now --Leading with compassion and curiosity at the RCV Resource Center as part of the team that makes RCTab. Discovering and building a constellation of RCV colleagues to make RCV elections successful.-- My Path --I started out and spent 6 years working and learning at a great, small (in the beginning) company in Lexington to get off the ground running with a career in software development. It was an excellent opportunity to learn about not only programming but how a small company grows from startup to a successful national presence. After that I was afforded an unbelievable opportunity to direct the Technology side of Beyond Pulse. Growing from 300 monthly active users to over 3000 while there I did everything that is asked of the tech lead in a small company: maintain the product backlog estimating effort and delivery dates, oversee and coordinate multiple remote dev teams and work directly with the business to evaluate, prioritize and refine ideas/improvements for our product. In this role I learned SO much about how to effectively communicate to all stakeholders (like business, finance, tech, marketing) as well as what it takes to be a leader and effectively manage a team of over a dozen across the US and Europe. With financial security and the approval of polite society within grasp I threw it all away to pursue a lifelong fascination with American government. I was lucky to dive headfirst into the American experiment - first as Wendy Davis's Congressional Campaign staff then at the National Democratic Redistricting Committee. I learned a lot from this brief stint in national politics and gladly returned to Kentucky as a founding member of Rank The Vote KY. After a stint as Community Engagement Coordinator at the Louisville Free Public Library advocating to city council for a fully funded public library system, I joined the merry band of RCV enthusiasts at the Ranked Choice Voting Resource center.
