Doctoral Researcher
CurrentThis promotion to a doctoral researcher position has been funded by UNITE flagship, a program through the University of Eastern Finland to secure my research. Over the course of the next few years, I will build on my master's research concerning the CTL harvesting system in the practice of thinning for the province of British Columbia. My main career goals are the following:- Produce three published articles, with permission of teams involved, supporting analysis on CTL and mechanized harvesting methods - Work with contractors, equipment manufacturers, and Indigenous communities to build long-term, decolonized partnerships that elude to the continued co-management approach presented by decolonial theory- Building more ecologically sustainable forestry practices for the adaptation and resulting resilience of the forest sector in BC- Strengthen ties between Canada and Finland as they both build conversations on topics of conservation and aim to build more sustainable harvesting methods for the long-term, protection of forest resources, while still benefiting from that of which is produced- Conduct research with the hope of building my teaching and research career, to formidably gain the necessary skills to fulfill a career in research and become a teaching and working professor, mentoring students worldwide on the topics of sustainable harvesting practices and land management for the betterment of both society and nature
