I manage and supervise the production of all public material for the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope on www.spacetelescope.org. This involves the management and coordination of a team of computer artists, astronomical image processors, designers, web experts and writers with different backgrounds, located at different locations. The production is always liaised with ESA and the Office for Public Outreach (OPO) at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, USA.I am also the main contact person for scientists, media and the public with respect to questions, interviews and the coordination of releases with other institutions. The product portfolio includes: press releases, pictures of the week, scientific announcements, video podcasts, brochures and newsletter.

I coordinate the production and implementation of the content – both visuals and texts – for the permanent exhibition in the ESO Supernova Planetarium & Visitor Centre in Garching, Germany. The acquisition of exhibits, definition of hands-on stations and models, as well as the translation to German is part of my tasks as well. I was also leading in the development of the concept of the exhibition and in helping to plan the layout in the very complex layout of the ESO Supernova.In addition, I am in charge of writing texts for the touch screens and screens on display in the exhibition area, as well as texts for late coming exhibits and last-minute changes. This project requires excellent organisation and management skills, the creation and implementation of complete new workflows, as well as strong diplomatic skills to keep all participants of the project (donor, exhibition company, ESO, architects, involved institutions) satisfied.

My main task was the reduction and analysis of the COMBO17-4 survey. This deep sky survey consists of observations made in 21 different filters within three different fields of view. The goal of the analysis was to make the three fields homogenous and to identify the objects within the survey. These objects were later classified and sorted in a catalogue. For the detected 30 000 galaxies the distance, mass and colour were calculated, which finally allowed to study the evolution of galaxies (in terms of colour and mass) from the early Universe till today, showing a clear increase in the number of red galaxies in the modern Universe.Challenges included the poor and incomplete documentation of the provided software and packages, the reduction steps performed before by different people (and the problem the redo them). Used software included MIDAS and IDL.The performed data reduction, documentation and analysis were the core part of my thesis which I defended in 2013.
