About Mathias Uller Rothmann

Experienced Research Professor specializing in perovskite solar cell development and characterization at Xianhu Laboratory in Foshan, China. Leading innovative research in next-generation perovskite materials for solar cells and LEDs. Proven expertise in planning and executing research projects, analyzing data, and managing complex collaborations. Published multiple top tier research papers. Recognized speaker at international conferences. Open to new opportunities in the field of perovskite materials. #PerovskiteResearch #SolarCellDevelopment #MaterialCharacterization #ResearchProfessor----------For over a decade, my work and studies have been focused on developing new technologies enabling our global community to transition to a sustainable future using fully renewable energy. My main focus has been in the space of perovskite solar cells, where I have become an international expert in my field, publishing work in Science, Nature Energy, Advanced Materials, and other high-impact journals. My job as a postdoc at the University of Oxford has enabled me to gain valuable experience managing high-level research projects with multiple participating researchers and research institutions, handling both external and internal collaborations. Besides fundamental research, I have a keen interest in the implementation of technology to solve climate issues, and I have participated in formal and informal training courses on this topic, including attending the Oxford School of Climate Change and the Oxford Research Staff Leadership Courses. Equality, equity, and mental health within the university research setting are very important topics to me, and I have worked hard to improve these areas within the University of Oxford. As a Research Staff Representative, I was elected to represent the early career researchers towards the university, which resulted in several steps being taken towards the improvement of the situation of early career researchers. This work has followed nicely with the volunteering and facilitating I have done for Beyond Equality, an organisation focused on helping young men develop a healthy sense of masculinity through open and honest conversation about sensitive topics. Facilitating these conversations have helped hone a high level of empathy and emotional intelligence which I carry with me and make use of on a daily basis.

Phd Student

Melbourne, Australia

Fundamental research into the crystal structure of hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite solar cells, and the application of this knowledge to optimise the performance of next-generation photovoltaics. My project was focused on using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to study the crystallographic properties of perovskite solar cell thin films, correlating these properties with the macroscopic device properties. This included the careful development of low-dose protocols for studying highly beam-sensitive hybrid perovskites, combined with optimisation of solar cell device fabrication and characterisation methods. I was awarded the Mollie Holman Medal for my thesis.

Aug 2014 - Apr 2018

Vising Researcher

Materials Engineering, Monash University, Melbourne

Maintaining and operating a range of laboratory equipment, including thermal evaporators, glove boxes, and large scale solar cell printing units. Furthermore, I am trained in the use of a wide range of electron microscopy techniques, such as TEM and SEM, which I employ to investigate the crystal structure of perovskite solar cells.
