• Research for Master’s Thesis:
• Subject/Goal: Identification of genes involved in the root response of the Arabidopsis thaliana plant to the broad host range fungus Rhizoctonia solani.
• Result: The identification of 3 genes potentially involved in the root response and the creation of genetically engineered plants that can be used for further research.
• Research Techniques used: Creation of genetically engineered plants through DNA isolation, PCR, plasmid creation and isolation, colony-PCR and the transformation of bacteria; checking gene expression via RNA extraction.

A literature study and fermentation experiments were performed to investigate the possibility of using new yeasts for brewing beer. 2 yeast strains that produce large amounts of new aroma components were identified. During the experiments different techniques such as density measurement, pH measurement and GC analysis were used.
