After running OR Coffee Etterbeek, Marianne & Mathias want to open a new cafe in 2019 with a focus on good coffee in combination with good food!

Sports has always been important in my life. During several years I combined top sport with studying. Even before graduating I started my own non-profit organization. Working on different levels of management, the organization became one of Belgium’s biggest Mountainbike clubs (180 members) including a school for kids, recreational riders and competition riders.Today I am still president and running the club together with a board of 9 members and 15 volunteers.

After returning from Australia I could start again immediately at Boxar Architecten. As a project architect I was assigned different projects in private and group housing. Everyone in the office was responsible for their own projects on all levels, but weekly team meetings kept the office informed. There was a great focus on following up on site and interaction with all contractors and clients.

I worked in Melbourne as a graduate architect on several projects including a 20+ million design competiton and supporting the rest of the team on different assignments.Beside communicating and working in another language, it was a real challenge to set up a life in a vibrant city like Melbourne.

Starting as a stagiair architect, I did design and competitions jobs. I evolved into working on highly detailed residential projects with communications at all levels. My first steps in architecture were hard and confronting. Working for a small office had given me the possibility to get through all phases of architecture like documenting, planning, wharf etc.

Working as a photographer for Belgian national newspaper ‘Gazet Van Antwerpen’, I was doing 24 hour availability shifts on a fixed schedule. This in combination with working for Studio ‘Stefaan Van Hul Photography’. Working on different scale projects, I was taught a more professional way of photographing including technique, lightning, framing etc. Projects included: reportage, portrait, landscape and architecture, studio work, computer processing and Photoshop retouching.
