As a post secondary educator, skill sets acquired in the past come in to play and new ones arise: patience, dedication, ethical and moral decision making are put to the test regularly. Each day I teach students to become more proficient in the medical laboratory field and each day they teach me to become a better educator. I specialise in clinical biochemistry and microbiology in the medical laboratory technology and laboratory assistant programs.

These medical laboratory technologist positions have led me to develop strong skill sets in clinical microbiology, chemistry, hematology as well as transfusion medicine. Team work, as well as solid autonomous decision making are key competencies required in this field.
