Investigations with reduced scale physical model on the beach stability and protection with breakwaters during storm events

Research position at Ifremer Martinique (with P. Lazure from Ifremer Brest) : review of works relating to the hydrodynamic marine processes in the French Lesser Antilles. Reanalyses of the existing circulation and wave data or models. Setting up a project for a future regional hydrodynamic modeling platform to hindcast 15 yrs of high resolution coastal currents (3D model), sea levels, and waves (spectral model).

PhD thesis concerning “Morphological impact of storm surge and (high-) waves on the Mediterranean Coastline". Work consisted of 1) Regional storm risk evaluation (new wave hindcasting model; storm surge evaluation; damage reports); 2) Large field investigations of storm impact on beach and shoreface systems. Several methods were used from pre-/post-storm surveys, argus video monitoring during storm event, hydrodynamics measurements and modelling of surf zone currents and wave set-up
