Phd Student In Electrochemistry/Organic ChemistryRochefort' Laboratory-Université De Montréal Jan 2007 - May 2012MontréalFabrication, characterization and electrochemical study of conducting microcapsules containing amino carbazole derivatives for Biofuel Cell design.The overall objective of this thesis was to develop a platform for enzymes immobilization by mean of microencapsulation enabling effective electron transfert between the microcapsules and the electrode for biofuel cell application in fuel cells. The poly (aminocarbazole) and their derivatives was used for the design of these microcapsules. These polymers have their repeat units (mono- or di-amino) primary amines which are available at an interfacial polymerization with a crosslinking agent such as a acid chloride. In addition, the monomers (repeat units) forming the different polymers have electrochemical properties desired for an efficient electron transfer between the enzyme and the electrode. One of the most important aspects of the project was to develop a synthetic route to obtain the 1,8-diaminocarbazole and the 3,6-dibromo-1-nitro-carbazole scale. The latter proved to be the key monomer for the synthesis of co-conducting polymer, namely poly [(9H-octylcarbazol-3,6-diyl)-alt-co-(2-amino-9H-carbazol-3,6-diyl)], used in the manufacture of conductive microcapsules. Finally, we demonstrated that it is possible to encapsulate Laccase and preserve its activity partillay so it may play the role of immobilized biocatalyst on electrode surface. -

Benoît Marsan/ UQÀMDuring my master, electrolytic mix constituted of phosphorus ylide (Ph3PCHCN, Me3PCHCN et Et3PCHCN) and their phosphonium salts have been studied et and compared to electrolytic mix constituted of phosphines (Ph3P and Ph2PCN) and their corresponding phosphonium too. After their synthesis realised, many ratio of mix ylide/salt and phosphine/salt in different organic solvant and in 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis((trifluoromethyl) sulfonyl)imide (EMITFSI) have been prepared.
