The purpose of this internship was to analyze the performance of a subgrid-scale turbulence model in Large-Eddy Simulation of free turbulent jet flow. The subgrid-scale (sgs) turbulence model chosen was the Coherent-structure function Smagorinsky model created by H.Kobayashi. It was implemented into an existing code for Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) of jets. The model computes an eddy viscosity which is added to the constant molecular viscosity. The LES results obtained for eight cases were analyzed and compared against data from DNS and experiments.
