Full-time developer after graduating from university. C#, JS, HTML, SQL, CSS, MS CRM, Azure and more. Working with and developing WCF and Web API services, MS SQL databases, production code/config and general system issues, developing new functionality and, in January 2018, began leading a team dedicated to fixing and resolving common system complaints with bug fixes and new functions, while supporting other live code and general software issues (alongside developing new requested features and projects for our bespoke insurance platform). As of 2021, became part of a core group of experienced developers to join the new Tech Ops team, dealing with the most critical and impactful fixes and changes, alongside meeting more regularly with the business and with management to prioritise, improve processes, refine our backlog and be the dev team to handle the most urgent, high priority issues.

38Deputies.gg is an application that I and a small team developed for the Guernsey 2020 election. The idea was born over a conversation with a colleague, and we decided to take it on as a side project, working together every evening and weekend in the run up to the election.The idea was to create a not-for-profit, unbiased website that helped voters decide on candidates that represented the views that mattered to them, during an information-saturated island-wise election. The way we would achieve this would be to collate a list of key issues from a public survey and from reading all candidates' manifestos, and allow voters to choose how they feel about those issues - returning a list of candidates in order of how well they align with the views input by the user. Data was sourced from candidates themselves (via questionnaire) or from manifestos. The application can act as somewhat of a "meta analysis" of various data points - in the future, we could use voting records and many more data points to determine a politician's consistency on certain issues, similar to the UK-based "TheyWorkForYou".The application was architected and written from the ground up by ourselves in our spare time, and proved to be a success, being used by approximately 7-14% of voters, and getting engagement from the majority of candidates, despite being a late addition to the voters arsenal of tools, and, until ~2 weeks before election, an unknown entity. During the process of creating this application, not only did we gain a lot of experience in developing and architecting our software from scratch, but in the "soft skills" side - in promoting/advertising the website, communicating with the public, talking and working with various political candidates, presenting the application at The Digital Greenhouse's 2020 Future Rewired event, and participating in radio, TV, press and podcast interviews.Technologies used:C# .NET Framework, MS SQL Server, Bootstrap, jQuery, Windows Server 2019, IIS

Initially a part-time venture to generate extra cash at university, I invested time into advertising my services in May 2014, quickly generating enough work to become a full-time endeavour, and ultimately spend most evenings/weekends when I became unable to treat it as a full-time job. Services stopped in September 2014 after returning to university and finding the market much more saturated upon my return.

Administrating the website, helping staff with IT problems, repairing engineers laptops, training staff on use of newly implemented Oracle system, dealing with customer complaints, booking in engineers for jobs, inputting timesheets and ensuring that overtime is paid correctly and other assorted admin work; plus automating some processes using Visual Basic, and creating some forms for business use (e.g. new sales forms etc).

Database admin; cleaning up incorrectly formatted data, removing duplicate entries, removing no longer valid customers from mailing lists (e.g. moved away etc), writing SQL queries to extract data for marketing purposes, using MS Access and other MS Office applications, and writing VBA code where necessary.
