I was involved in the elucidation of the role of a novel protein called KBP/KIAA1279 (Kinesin Binding Protein). This protein binds to certain members of the Kinesin Superfamily, which transport cargo's along microtubules. The way that it binds is interesting, however the fact that a null-mutation of this gene causes the neurodegenerative Goldberg-Sprintzen Syndrome makes it even more intriguing.
