Sentigrate is a sensor data integrator for a variety of sectors, making raw data comprehensable. Services include data processing, data modelling and data visualization, allowing Sentigrate to leverage data into new opportunities.Besides working on the medical projects within the data science team, sometimes crossing paths with data engineering tasks, I am also working on projects requiring expertise on (timeseries) prediction models and sensor data pipeline design. This made me more proficient in Python, whilst simultaneously familiarizing myself with technologies like Kafka, Kubernetes, Google Cloud Console, and databases such as InfluxDB and ArangoDB.

Selected to be part of the software team of NeuroTech Leuven's Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) project, where we try to make a game controller based on imagined movement detected via EEG.The software team consists of engineers and scientists who:• Make sure the measured brain wave signals are properly processed for a given application• Develop user-friendly software• Dare to further improve on existing algorithmsThis requires knowledge of Machine Learning, Signal Processing, Big Data applications, Computational Neuroscience, Biosignals and IoT applications.In addition to this, I had the privilege to create, prepare and give a workshop to the members of NeuroTech Leuven and E.S.A.I.V. Serpentine (from Eindhoven University of Technology) on the topic of EEG-based sleep stage classification. In this workshop, I wanted to emphasize the complex relationship between data preprocessing and model performance, whilst also contrasting Machine Learning with Deep Learning.

Strengthening the elaboration of my faculty-related entrepreneurial project and exploring its business viability whilst meeting like-minded people and learning from each other under the guidance of the KICK coaches and other experts. I followed this incubator track whilst independently participating in the Entrepreneurship Program of the faculty of Engineering Science of the KU Leuven.Throughout this incubator track, I deepened my storytelling and pitching skills, whilst gaining knowledge on the basics of finance, funding and business cases. This allowed me to efficiently establish relationships with potential end-users of my sensor-product, ensuring the development of a functionally- and market-relevant product.Almost exactly one year later, my KICK story rekindled as I was asked to present my Omega Glove project at the opening of the newly built KICK House in the presence of their KU Leuven partners and external partners.

Clinical outcome measures for Parkinson’s disease (PD) such as MDS-UPDRS are subjective and lack specificity for assessing cognitive and/or motor function. One of the studies/projects icometrix is working on will evaluate structural and diffusion MRI biomarkers as early and specific PD outcome measures. In particular, I was involved in a subtask of the project in which a statistical analysis is performed using voxel-based regression techniques, with the goal of correlating cross-sectional and longitudinal MRI data with clinical scores. This well-established method detects new clusters of voxels that will then be turned into regions of interest for further analysis.Resulted in a publication.
