I am co-owner of animation studio Reanimation.nl and Cardboarders.com, based in beautiful downtown Amsterdam! I also program / develop creative projects for festivals (f.e. Lowlands festival, Defqon, and KLIK! Animation Festival). And of course I teach animation, art and concept-development at Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Most of my work feels rooted in animation. Be it in video, online, theater, or on a festival, I want to bring things to live! Some of my latest productions include 2D and 3D animation, puppetry, videomapping, interactive installations, event design and large cardboard crowd creation projects. “I love absurdity, quirkiness and the freshness of amateurism. Treu creation comes from innocent pleasure of working together and a feeling of having nothing to loose. This childlike state is something that I want to recreate in my projects. Art is an action sport, you play it together and you need to get involved to really enjoy it”“My work often tries to engage the audience in participating, experimenting and explore their own and each others creativity. I try to organize events where people get the possibility to get to know each other by using their hands and work together on a creative project. It doesn’t matter if these people are creative professionals or amateurs.”“The source of the word animation comes from breathing life in to something. That’s why I gravitate towards stuff like videomapping, stopmotion installations etc. in which animation finds it’s place outside the screen. Not only do you make an animation: the animation makes the thing it’s projected on come alive.”
