An exceptional combination of medical knowledge, technological competencies, leadership skills, managerial experience, and a strong work ethic―these are the qualities that make me a capable laboratory professional and manager. After a series of strategic career moves, I secured the coveted spot of an Area Laboratory Manager at Pure Health LLC (UAE). Growing up in a family of professionals, I was encouraged to pursue a career that played to my strengths. I began my career with the prestigious AKU Hospital in Karachi as a medical trainee. The internship allowed me to learn the ropes of this field under the supervision of exceptional professionals. I was fortunate enough to land my first job in the city’s most prominent medical institute after completing my M.Sc in Biotechnology from Karachi University. With the due belief in faith, I became part of the UAE’s healthcare industry by joining the hematology department at Latifa Hospital (DHA). I worked there as a medical lab tech and additionally shared the responsibilities as Quality and Safety Coordinator for the department. My duties there required me to communicate with the senior management staff and train the staff for JCIA accreditation requirements. All these things were done to improve the department’s safety and quality standards. Later, I was recruited by Al Garhoud Hospital as an Assistant Laboratory Manager. My primary duty was to raise the standards of patient satisfaction by providing accurate and reliable results. At the same time, I was assessing laboratory inventory, collaborating with prominent vendors, supervising the quality system, and the recruitment process. I was also responsible for proficiency testing, duty roster, evaluation of outsourced services. Taking upon the role of a managerial position gave me an insight into the nitty-gritty requirements of the industry. It taught me how to identify the key issues in system and their cost-effectively solutions. Besides this, I worked at UAE’s state of the art BSL III Surveillance laboratory at Sheikh Khalifa Hospital. As a Supervisor, I applied latest molecular techniques to diagnose highly infectious diseases by using PCR methodologies, a combination of the latest instruments and highly efficient SOPs. Achieved milestones such as ASCPi (MLS), NEBOSH IGC training, ISO 15189:2012, Proficiency Testing (PT) Training, Method Verification and Measurement of Uncertainty, Risk Assessment, etc. I strive to fulfill my role in this thriving industry through transparent conduct, diligence, and by staying abreast of modern technology.
