I au pair for an Afrikaans family with 3 children aged 10, 11 and 14. My key responsibilities are to ensure that the oldest two children complete their daily academic work. I also fetch the youngest child from school. In addition, I help all the children with homework and drive them around to the various tutor lessons and extra murals. I run an EQ program with the children to assist with developing acceptable social and emotional skills.

I started my career at this school as a teaching directress in the Montessori classroom in January 2016. My duties included everything from working with children to working with their parents. I enjoyed this opportunity immensely and obtained a great deal of practical experience. Working with the children included aftercare, presenting activities, changing nappies, teaching and facilitating groups and developing good character in the children. From July 2017 up to December 2018 I was the acting principal of this establishment. My duties then expanded to co-operation with management and administrative staff.

My key responsibilities were to provide for their every need like feeding, changing, providing stimulating activities, nap time, bathing, putting them to bed at night, sometimes staying over to look after them during the night, washing bottles, organizing extra-mural activities like swimming, music and clamber club, taking them on outings, taking them to the doctor, taking them on play dates with family, taking them to birthday parties, and sometimes buying necessary groceries.

Teacher of children between 3- 4 years of age. My key responsibilities were to stimulate the development of these children physically, intellectually, spiritually, socially and emotionally. I was partly responsible for organizing events and yearly concerts. Assessments of the children’s development were also recorded throughout the year and report cards that I completed were sent out at the end of each term.
