Investigation of two-dimensional materials and their production via easily scalable liquid-phase exfoliation methods (e.g. ultrasonication, electrochemical and shear exfoliation). Study of the electrochemical exfoliation process to produce inks of graphene and other related 2DMs. Large-area thin films fabrication. Multiscale physico-chemical characterization by the means of microscopic and spectroscopic techniques (e.g. AFM, SEM, Raman spectroscopy) and surface-sensitive techniques (e.g. XPS) to gain morphological, structural and compositional information on 2DMs in relation to their electronic properties. Design of new strategies to tune 2DMs properties, towards their introduction in novel multifunctional devices.

Preparation of polymeric films by spin-coating and spatially resolved chemical characterization of organic micro- and nanostructured systems by Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF-SIMS). Optimization of ToF-SIMS depth profiling for the characterization of multicomponent biological and polymeric systems.
