I am part of the multidisciplinary research program INTEGRATE which is funded by EIC and SERI. I will be working on the development of artificial muscles that can be 3D printed together with my colleagues at the Adople Merkle Institute in Fribourg, Switzerland, and our collaborators located in Europe. The group, led by Dr. A. Samanta, work with biopolymer-based hydrogels for tissue engineering and regeneration of cornea, cartilage, and bone. My work is focused on the synthesis and characterization of soft tissue adhesives as a continuation of my thesis work. More specifically, the modification and characterization of collagen and gelatin, crosslinking using bio-orthogonal reactions and mechanical testing of hydrogels using rheology, tensile testing, and lap shear test using tissue substrates.
