Sepsiscan has developed a hyperspectral imaging device that helps to detect visually the oxygen depletion in blood and identify early signs of sepsis. This enables ICU staff to identify sepsis faster, make a prompt decision (as each hour decreases survival rate) and apply relevant antibiotics course, thus reducing probability of mortality. A spinoff company from the Institute of Atomic Physics and Spectroscopy at University of Latvia, based in Riga, Latvia. 1 Million EUR already invested in R&D of the technology.
