Senior Bookseller
As you would appreciate in a campus bookshop, maintaining an exemplary standard of customer service while providing accurate, pertinent information to large numbers of students from a wide variety of backgrounds is at the heart of every role. Beginning as an information and enquiries officer, I occupied several positions during my time at the Co-op including 2 years as assistant text buyer and have acted as a team leader responsible for training and managing casual staff. I was accounts and events coordinator for the last 2 years. Starting in my second year with the company I took on general buying duties leading to responsibility for at least half of the discretionary purchases over the last 5-6 years. Acting closely with management and other team members achieved a steady growth in our non-textbook sales. REFERENCE Dan Turner, Assistant Manager 0425 261 705 WRITTEN REFERENCE I am an anthropologist at the University of Sydney and have known Mr Johnston for many years while he was at the campus Co-op bookshop. I would like to convey to you my appreciation of his person both in regard to his professional work there and his personal commitment to the world of books and higher learning. Mr Johnston engagement with customers has always been of the highest order, to no small measure facilitated by his exquisite knowledge of publishing industry and a range of different areas – from literature to humanities and hard science. I have no doubts that having a person of Mr Johnston’s knowledge and experience among the staff would greatly enhance the quality of your service to the lovers of books and knowledge.
